Wilton Volunteer Ambulance Corps Announces Scholarship Winners

Wilton Volunteer Ambulance Corps (WVAC) is pleased to announce the recipients of this year’s scholarships: Jessica Co-Reyes, Lawrence O’Halloran and Kerri Rees.  Each year, members of WVAC who are pursuing careers in a health related field are invited to apply for a scholarship.  Jessica will be attending Washington University in St. Louis majoring in Biomedical Engineering.  Lawrence is enrolled in a post baccalaureate pre-med program at Manhattanville College and Kerri will begin the nursing program at St. Vincent’s College in the fall.

WVAC is a not for profit emergency medical service that provides 911 emergency ambulance coverage to the town of Wilton.   As the name suggests, they are primarily a volunteer organization.  They have roughly 50 members, most of whom are Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) trained to render care ranging from simple splinting of a broken finger to lifesaving emergency defibrillation using an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED).

WVAC is proud of their members who are devoted to serving the Wilton community.  Last year, WVAC provided over 18,000 volunteer hours to the Town of Wilton.  Please visit the WVAC website at www.wiltonambulance.org to learn more about the Corps.
